It has been studied that the protective effect of the Covid-19 vaccines gradually diminishes from our immune system 6 months onwards after taking the second dose of vaccines. This is why the booster is important. The booster does ensure long-term protection from the Covid-19 virus, which is mutating at a rapid rate. The MOPH promotes taking the booster dose for all eligible individuals at the earliest so that their immunity is not compromised.
